November 6: Susanne Kogut, Executive Director, Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA. Susanne Kogut joined the CASPCA as Executive Director in March 2005. Prior to her career change she held several high-level positions with Capital One Financial Corporation. In January 2007 Susanne was named Shelter Director of the Year for 2006 by the national No Kill Advocacy Center. Under her tenacious leadership CASPCA finished 2006 saving 92 percent of all dogs and cats, better than any other community in the nation.
November 13: Coy Barefoot, Director of Communication and Alumni Relations, Sorensen Institute. Coy Barefoot is a best-selling author and former journalist. In addition to his position with the Sorensen Institute, he is the host and producer of “Charlottesville—Right Now!,” a drive-time local talk show on NewsRadio 1070 WINA.
November 20: Logan Ward, Recreating the 1900 Farm Life. Freelance journalist Logan Ward has written for National Geographic Adventure, Men’s Journal, Popular Science, The New York Times and many other publications. His book See You in a Hundred Years: Four Seasons in Forgotten America chronicles his family’s quest to become 1900-era dirt farmers in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.
December 4: Erika Viccellio, Executive Director, Charlottesville Free Clinic. Prior to her work at the Free Clinic she was employed at the Virginia Institute of Autism from 1996 until 2003 in a variety of capacities, including Executive Director. Ms. Viccellio is a guest lecturer at UVa and PVCC and a frequent presenter at local and state conferences.
Since A Day in the Life of…is a new endeavor, it is being offered to registered students as a free course, i.e., you will not be charged units. However, you will have to list this course on your registration form.
