Members register for courses/ classes or events online or by mail.
Course Registration, Membership and Costs:
- OLLI at UVA offers fall and spring semesters, each consisting of two, seven- week sessions including additional summer/winter courses between semesters.
- Semester membership entitles you to register for courses or be added to wait list if necessary. (membership fee is refundable if you are wait listed for all of selections)
- Course fees for each semester:
- Membership – $75
- Courses – priced individually based on the number of class sessions, typically $11/session. (i.e.: there are between 1 and 6 weekly sessions in a course)
Charges for “Events and Outings ” (post-COVID) are in addition to the course fees.
Membership ONLY: If you choose not to take courses for a semester, your membership supports OLLI and entitles you to an array of benefits listed on the membership page.
How do I a purchase courses or events? Each person registering must do so individually and pay with a separate credit transition, or a check payable to “UVA Fund/OLLI.” In your online account or on the paper form, please include your e-mail address and we will notify you of course information throughout the semester. As a courtesy to our instructors and members, please select courses with the intention of attending all class sessions. Absenteeism denies members on the wait list an opportunity to participate.

Paper Registration: You will find two registration forms at the back of the catalog. In addition, a pdf form is available. Do not wait until the day registration opens. You can mail completed forms with payment to OLLI at UVA, P.O. Box 2198, Charlottesville, VA, 22902 as soon as you’d like.
Refunds: Refunds for course fees will not be given after two weeks prior the course start date. Outing refunds will be given only if your spot is filled.
Scholarships: If you find OLLI membership and course fees to be a barrier to taking courses, please contact the OLLI office for information on our no-hassle scholarships.
Instructor Discounts: OLLI instructors may take courses free of charge during the semester they teach and the one that follows. Instructor spouses/partners receive a $50 discount off the semester membership fee.
Class Moderator Discounts: A $25 discount is given to class assistants for each class in which they assist. It may be redeemed in the two semesters that follow. This discount applies only to course fees and may not be used for Events or Outings.
Course Waiting List: If you are on a waiting list, the OLLI office will contact you if a seat becomes available.
To Add a Course: If you are registered for the semester and wish to add a course, go to the registration system and sign in or call the OLLI office. As long as a course is not full, you will be added.
To Drop a Course: If you need to drop a course before it has begun, please notify the OLLI office so that we may fill your spot from the waiting list. (See ‘Refunds’ above)
Schedule Changes: The OLLI office communicates all schedule changes and last-minute class cancellations by e-mail. Please check your e-mail regularly.

Makeup Classes: If a makeup class is scheduled for a canceled session, you will be notified of the date and time via email.
Guests: We hope that OLLI members will share our classes with their friends. Members may request approval from the OLLI office to “bring-a-friend” as a guest attend one class session. Pre-approval is required.
